Homemade BBQ Sauce Recipe

Wondering why homemade bbq sauce is better? I’m glad you asked! Storebought sauces can be filled with yucky unneeded ingredients that can muddle the flavor. Additives and preservatives such as corn syrup can distort the flavor.

Easy BBQ Sauce Recipe

This BBQ sauce can be described as your quintessential sauce. It’s smokey, tangy, and slightly spicy. All the flavors balance and complement each other.

  • Flavorful– this recipe combines brown sugar, maple, spices, and apple cider vinegar to create a smooth and delicious sauce
  • Easy- this is a simple 15-minute recipe. There are only 3 steps and you don’t need any fancy equipment to get the job done.
  • Healthier– That’s right! Just as I mentioned earlier, making your own sauces can be a simple way to control the flavor and quality of these sauces.
  • Versatile- You can use this sauce for almost anything.

Ingredients

  • Ketchup- Make sure to use organic ketchup or one without corn syrup
  • Brown Sugar- I usually light brown sugar because it has less molasses.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar- The “tanginess” associated with BBQ sauce is usually created by this.
  • Maple Syrup- Adds sweetness without skimping on flavor
  • Spices- This recipe calls for onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne, and salt; Perfect spice combination for a delicious sauce.
