Growing up, my mama always told me to sip warm ginger, honey, and lemon when I wasn’t feeling well and during cold and flu season. She never explained the benefits, but it always worked and made me feel better. Now that I’m an adult and I have taken the time to do a little research, I totally understand all the technical reasons ginger and lemon is the perfect mixture for almost every common ailment.

Ginger Lemonade Mocktail
This ginger lemonade is sweet, refreshing, and tangy. It’s the perfect base for a delicious mocktail or cocktail. To turn this lemonade into a yummy mocktail, simply add sparkling water. For a little extra razzle-dazzle, I like to add a hint of mint. I poured a few ounces of the lemonade into the bottom of my glass. Then I poured ice over it. Next, I poured lemon sparkling water over the ice and added a mint leaf/
If you’d like to create a cocktail, simply add your favorite champagne instead of sparkling water.

- Yield: 6 servings 1x
Description
Delicious homemade refreshing ginger lemonade.
Ingredients
- 1 piece of ginger root (peeled and chopped into 1/2-inch pieces)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/4 cup water
- 1 1/4 cups fresh squeezed lemon juice
Instructions
- Combine the ginger root, sugar, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Be sure to stir to get help the sugar dissolve. Bring it to a boil. Let it boil for 2-3 minutes. Do not burn! Remove the ginger syrup from the heat and let it cool for a minute.
- Juice the lemons. I used a citrus juicer to make it easier.
- Set up your strainer over your bowl. Then carefully strain the ginger syrup. With the same bowl and strainer, strain the lemon juice.
- Pour the ginger lemonade into a pitcher. I do not add water to this concentrate because I serve it as a mocktail or cocktail, but if you want to serve it as it is, simply add a cup of cool water and serve or ice.
